2/13/2020 0 Comments PAOLA DELFÍnMY INSPIRED ARTISTPaola Delfín is an amazing artist that creates massive murals depicting unity and community. She’s based in Mexico, but her murals can be found in various cities around the world, such as Cancun and St. Petersburg. Her desire is always to leave something “meaningful” for people to see when they pass by her artwork. Her use of various grays, monochromatic themes and striking realism give depth and life to her pieces, which hooked me in. The life and detail in her murals makes you feel like the people she’s created are real and looking down at you. Instead of just making a mural for the looks, she researches the community she’s working in, the history and the people of that community. She also has a recurring theme of women’s strength in her murals, contributing to people connecting with her art on a more personal level. Delfín uses both paint and brushes as well as spray paint to create her giant works.
What interested me the most is how she not only creates beautiful art, but also adds a deeper meaning to it at the same time. The way she uses her paint to tell a story amazes me, and inspires me to do the same with my own work. She emphasizes that even though the art is important, the story behind it is what will truly resonate with people. This method she uses to get inspiration for her murals sets her apart from other artists I’ve heard of and makes her unique.
